Miata BBQ 2009
Miata BBQ
On Sunday, June 28, around 30 Miata members met at the Meadowbrook Lake Condo for tons of fun, food, games, and good old fashion horse trading. Thanks to Art & Sue who live in this beautiful complex and were able to secure the date, pool area, B.B.Q., with a great meeting and dining room, full kitchen, and all the extras that went along with it. It was all they promised and more. There was even a stage with a piano, and a stereo with speakers surrounding the room. The pool, though not Olympic size was perfectly clean and refreshing. A sauna and shower area was handy for changing back into our Miata garb. There were hot and heavy shuffleboard games, and card games. Everyone had fun doing their own thing. My one regret was that I never did get the time to try my hand at botchy ball. Too much was going on. I guess its part of my upbringing, but I always worry about running out of food. I should have known better with the Miata crowd. Not only was there more than enough food, but we could have fed a small army with the leftovers. It was not just a lot of food; it was great food and an extremely varied selection. Most of the food was made from scratch, and delicious. I can’t thank the members enough for their time and efforts. It was like a feeding frenzy that went on for hours. We all took turns grilling our own selections, and it was interesting to see the wide choices brought that day. The smells were unbelievable. The day was such a success; I hope we have a chance to repeat this event in the future. Once again I would like to thank each and every member for their time and efforts in coming early to help set up, stay late to clean up, cook their hearts out, and have to listen to me give my reports up on a stage…Thank heaven there was no microphone, or I might still be going on and on…and on…
