Pre-Thanksgiving

Pre-Thanksgiving
(See the picture show below)

With a hurricane brewing in the tropics, I was a wee bit worried that the weather might not be good for our picnic alongside my house on Sunday the 9th. My fears proved unfounded when the weather no only held up, it was perfect. We had over 60 people show up consisting mostly of members from our club, but also some friends and neighbors.

Set on a lush green lawn with some sprawling shade trees, with a view of water on a wide canal, and boats passing by, everyone agreed this was a much nicer setting than a state park. Of course the outside television with the Dolphin football game also swayed their votes…

The bountiful array of food brought by the guests was outstanding as always, appetizers, side dishes, and desserts. The desserts were endless. Apple pies, pumpkin pies, cup cakes, a large sheet cake baked and decorated as a Miata (by Steve), cookies, brownies, fruits, were all spread out for our treats. I’m on a diet, and I said to no one in particular as I had a piece of pie and a glass of milk “I’m going straight to you know where.”

Tommy, at Grampas Restaurant once again this year out did himself on the excellent quality and quantity of the food and fresh pies. It is his way of thanking our club for our patronage of his restaurant, not only on our monthly meeting nights, but for all our members who return through the year for his breakfasts, lunches, and dinners on their own.

I cannot thank the members of our club who unselfishly worked so hard to lighten my load that day. You all know who you are, and you are all greatly appreciated. Next year I hope more of our members will join in the fun.
